The Kennedy Center was and still is my favorite place in the world. Ive been going to shows there since I was 3. When I was in the 8th grade, I auditioned for a show at the Kennedy Center with Debbie Allen. It was my first audition ever and I had no idea what to expect. My dad typed my first resume on a typewriter. The audition was an overwhelming experience for me because it was so much to take in. It was a true So you think you can dance?! moment in the worst way! When I didnt get called back, I was devastated. I had just experience my first rejection from the professional arts world. I remember leaving the Kennedy Center thinking to myself, Someday, Im going to get back there. That fantasy has stayed with me ever since. Tonight, thanks to Abdur-Rahim Muhammad and Risikat Okedeyi, someday finally came. This time, I was ready! I got to sing, dance and perform with some amazing children! I cannot believe I had a solo performance along with performing with the royal children! It still feels like I dreamed this all up in my head. Thank you to all who supported me tonight. I am a living testament to the fact that your dreams will take you everywhere you want to go! #FullCircle!
