The Kingdom of God why and for how long - As Christians we are often reminded or read of the references to being kings and priests and judges and royalty, etc., and it is true that the Bible is full of these references to what we will be the next life after the Resurrection and are now in the Spiritual sense. Well known Bible texts such as 1 Peter 2:9-10, Revelation 5:9-10, 1 Corinthians 6:2-3 are among the many explicitly declarative scriptures about what God’s predestined plan for intervening in the affairs of Human Civilization will mean to the status, authority, and power of those Jesus called Blessed in this world before His Final Revelation (Matthew 5:3, 10; John 20:29). Indeed God has a Kingdom that is “not part of this World” Order of Things at any level (John 18:36; Hebrews 9:24; James 4:4; 1 John 2:15-17). Thus, at the time in which human civilization on this planet capitulates to its own inability to resist the evil that it is in constant struggle with and that in fact rules it (1 John 5:19; James 4:1-10; 1 Corinthians 2:6; John 16:7-11) and there by fails completely as a civilization God’s plan is to Save all of the human beings that are still capable of love and compassion through a resurrection from the dead and to Renew the Earth and put a new civilization on it that will be ruled by the kingdom of the Son he loves (Colossians 1:13), who is the perfect image of the God of Love (1 John 4:8). For now God’s plan is to recruit those that will serve the Son of God, Jesus Christ, in that major work of the “Renewal of all things,” which includes the second resurrection, after the end of this world. Of Jesus Christ and His Kingdom the Prophet Isaiah prophesied the following at Isaiah 9:6-7, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, [and] Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.” In fact while still in His Human form Jesus Christ promised His followers prominent roles in that Kingdom of which He would be King saying Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man [Jesus Christ] sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Yet we know that all this talk of Kings, and Priests, and Judges, and all of the Superfluous Vainglory that human beings tend to relate to such titles is really not God’s original plan. In fact, only as a result of having to frame his will in a fashion that was comprehensible for humanity under the influence and control of evil so that He could gradually reconcile us back to His Original design and purpose did God make concessions to these concepts of Rulership and Nationalism. Take for instance God’s original design of Israel. It did include a Priesthood, but these were members of a tribal system created through family inheritance all of which were direct offspring of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel, and the Priests were dedicated to the service of God’s things among the people on their behalf and had no Earthly inheritance of their own (Numbers 1:47-53; Deuteronomy 10:6-9). It wasn’t until the days of the High Priest Samuel that the nation of Israel demanded to be more like the Nimrod-like nations around them and asked for a King (1 Samuel 8). This was a move away from God’s will for Israel and ultimately led to their demise as a Nation as God prophesied that it would. But God in His eternal Graciousness and Wisdom used Israel’s constant rebelliousness to His advantage. As it says in Hebrews 1:1-4 “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.” So God used the otherwise divisive and limiting structure of Kingdom Nation originally introduced by God’s Enemies at the Tower of Babel (Genesis 10:8-12, 25; 11:1-9) while still maintaining His original design of Family (Patriarchal and Matriarchal) lineage to proceed forward in fulfilling his plan for the salvation and reconciliation of Humanity. This plan will kick into high gear the Bible says after Human Civilization’s Demise in a great time of distress “unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.” It is for this sole purpose that Christ calls us now; so that we may join Him to make all things new. Paul described it to the Romans this way at Romans 8:18-25 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. At that time the Bible says Christ and His Kingdom will reign for a thousand years (Revelation 20:4-6). That period of a thousand years may be a symbolic one simply alluding to the fact that Christ’s Kingdom will Reign for as long as it is necessary to sift all of resurrected humanity back into a pure state of moral perfection before God (Isaiah 65:17-25; Matthew 5:48). But in any case after all things are renewed and humanity has been rid of sin and the earth has been rid of Satan the Devil and his Demons (Revelation 20:7-15) then all titles and pretentions and divisions and everything that is simply not part of God’s Original Plan for a single Universal Family of which He alone was the Father and from which all Families in the Heavens and the Earth derived their name the Kingdom fulfills its mission. Speaking of this Thousand Year Reign of Christ the Apostle Paul says at 1 Corinthians 15:25-28, For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all. Amen. “So that God may be all in all.” What exactly does that mean? It means that there will be nothing that divides us as living creatures; that our existence and ability to fully experience it and enjoy it will not be obstructed by any limitation of value or perception. Revelation 21:1-4 and 22-27 says “Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”” “I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” So the Kingdom of God has the sole purpose of renewal. Once that renewal takes place then we will simply be God’s Children. The concept of the Nation State and Kings and Religion and Kings and Priests will all be transformed by the purity and intimacy of God’s Love and Light dwelling within and amongst and through-out everything that breathes.
