The Kiwis survived a spirited second-half comeback by Samoa to win their opening World Cup game 42-24 in Warrington on Monday morning. They started strongly and were ahead 22-4 at the break and 36-4 not long into the second half before they let Samoa back into the game. Once the momentum changed the Kiwis had to work hard to regain it. Coach Kearney said We didn’t see a great deal of possession for 20 mins there and, to their credit, I thought they played with a great deal of energy and enthusiasm and consequently put some tries on us.” The Kiwis next game is against France and screens live in NZ on Saturday November 2, kick off 8am.
