What will happen to America, if we as a nation forget God? The Bible warns in Psalm 9:17 (KJV), “The wicked shall be turned into hell and all nations that forget God.” We are already witnessing this terrible demise in our country. Look around you. Empty buildings where thriving businesses used to be are popping up everywhere. Even large franchises are closing their doors and small businesses are struggling just to meet payroll. Some of our cities and towns are beginning to look like ghost towns. The recent natural disaster on the East Coast (said to be the largest in the history of America) and the destruction of New Orleans a few years ago, could be the first signs that God is angry with America for pushing Him out of the very foundation our country was built upon. Who controls the weather anyway? Let us be reminded of the passage in Mark 4:39 (KJV) where Jesus calmed the sea. “And He arose and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, ‘Peace, be still,’ and the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” God has been at the forefront of our beloved country until one woman attacked prayer in our schools during the 1950s and 1960s. Ever since then, America has been treading downhill not only in our morals but our trust in God. The cost of food, utilities and gas has skyrocketed. We are seeing a lot of turmoil and civil unrest. And now, America may be on the way to losing our great stand for freedom. Our country has forgotten God and we are now beginning to pay the price for our sin. If we do not unite again as “one nation under God” terrible things are going to happen. Holy Scripture says we will be “turned into hell.” Does that mean the devil’s hell or hell on earth? No one really knows the answer to that question. Our forefathers taught us that government should belong to the people, not that the people should belong to the government. The government should not be our god. If the U.S. sides against Israel, we will have turned our back to God and our nation will suffer the consequences. The Jews are God’s chosen people like it or not. It was appalling that at the Democratic Convention this year it was announced that anything to do with God would not be spoken at the convention. It so angered some of the American people that the Democrats had to recant it. Never in our lifetime have we ever seen a President of the United States (especially with no real experience) execute so much power as Barak Obama. There are a lot of questions left unanswered about Obama. He came out of nowhere and we know little about his history. But we do know that Frank Marshall Davis, a well-known Communist, was his mentor. That in itself is disturbing. According to his State of the Union address he proclaimed, “the road ahead may be harder”. People are unable to get jobs, provide food and shelter for their families, put gas in their vehicles, working two or three jobs; and it’s going to get harder? Even Obama’s pastor for more than 20 years, Jeremiah Wright, remarked from the pulpit that instead of saying “God bless America” we should say “God damn America.” Doesn’t that scare you? Keep in mind that Obama will appoint the judges for the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land. That in itself may jeopardize our political process. Why do we, as American citizens, sit back and watch our country be destroyed piece by piece and do nothing to stop it? The Bible gives us an answer. “If my people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). We cannot, in good conscience, let this election go by without nudging the American people to wake up. We are on the wrong road and it is leading us to nowhere. Editorial by Publisher, Renee Wheeler
