The Koreans as well as many other Asian nations are worried about Japans recent revival of military power and that fact that the US is helping them in this matter. The US wants to stem the rise of power from China but in doing so is also alienating many other nations because Japan has a history of genocide and invasion into these nations and has not apologized nor ever acknowledged it has done anything wrong. I hope their fear does not allow them to do something drastic such as believe they are forced into rejoining North and South Korea for fear of a resurgent Japanese Imperialism, however one could see how this could be an issue. Japan has shown an interest lately in returning to the former power of its Imperial Empire and Korea and all other Asian nations are not strong enough to stand up to a force like that
