The LA Times Gale Holland is really all over the big homeless camp sweep downtown today at the encampment near Olvera Street. I suspect well get a major story immediately, full of photos of snickering cops and cop cars and the kinds of real homeless invasions of privacy that your communitys most dependable City Hall flacks have given Tomi Bowling and friends such a hard time about. Meanwhile, if you recall, the Daily News had to be begged to cover your nearly invisible homeless sweep in the Big Tujunga Wash six weeks ago, and when they finally wrote something days after the fact, they blew a kiss at LA Family Housing to boot. Its not hard now to figure out whats going on here, folks: the homeless arent wanted downtown, and the scavenger agencies in Sunland-Tujunga are rolling out the welcome mat, using three or four key volunteers to front for their multimillion-dollar extravaganzas.
