The LDF invaded LMPS headquaters in Maseru for the reasons they stated; it was an operation aimed at disarming the police. There were injuries reported. The events of Sat (prior & post the operation) have however shaken the roots of this supposedly democratic country. Two COMMANDERS, is it Lt Gen Kamoli, OR Brigadier Mahao? As revealed in the media that Brigadier Mahao has been appointed the commander of the LDF, one could only wonder, was his appointment, (for the sake of peace and stability of Lesotho) in any way procedural?? The announcement was later counterd by another story in one of the Newspapers that, Lt Gen Kamoli insists, he is still the commander of the LDF and he has not been served with any dismisal letter! ...and now we can only pray that PEACEFULY the deadlock is broken, WHO IS THE LEGITIMATE COMMANDER OF LESOTHO DEFENCE FORCE? For the sake of peace and stability of this Nation, I humbly urge our politicians to solve this issue. I do not want to imagine the LDF under two commanders. Yes! The government may be of a coalition of parties, but does it mean we should also have a COALITION of Commanders? The situation at hand if it is not carefuly and expeditiously solved, will devide the military and widen that division. The military is supposed to be ONE UNIT which serves the interest of Basotho Nation, i.e protect us against internal and external threats. NB; This issue MUST BE CAREFULY addresed! My message to Politicians; You are supposed to behave like the elites but Im afraid i see the contrary! Politicians, SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE for once and PUT OUR INTEREST AS A NATION FIRST. Work together for the common goal of developing Lesotho and Basotho.
