The Labour Party on FRACKING : In the lead-up to the 2015, the Labour Party has now put online a series of draft policy consultation documents. As it says: “… the final versions of these documents will be adopted as Labour’s policy programme.” Here is what the LP says on fracking: “In order to meet twin goals of securing a low carbon supply and keeping energy bills as low as possible, we need to achieve an energy mix which includes renewables, nuclear and carbon capture and storage, which is vitally important for the future of coal. Gas has a role to play in a future balanced energy mix, within carbon budgets. However, gas fracking will not lead to the kind of impact on energy prices in Britain that the Government has predicted.
