The Lagos State Government FASHOLA INAUGURATES EXECUTIVE SECRETARIES FOR 57 LOCAL COUNCILS TO ENSURE UNINTERRUPTED SERVICE DELIVERY …Charges new appointees to focus on primary responsibilities of government at grassroots level Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola, SAN on Monday presided at the administering of Oath of Office on 57 new Executive Secretaries who would run affairs at the Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas, charging them to focus attention on their primary responsibilities at the grassroots level. Noting that the Executive Secretaries were being inaugurated to ensure that there is no vacuum in service delivery at the local government level, the Governor who spoke at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa said the new Executive Secretaries who would serve for a transitional three months period with four advisory members each must ensure that they secure life and property in their respective areas. Said he: “So, my first mandate to you is to go and integrate all members of your communities, whatever part of Nigeria that they come from, whatever religion they profess, whatever language they speak, whatever type of dress they wear. They are part of us, they are Lagosians and we must integrate them and continue to live in peaceful coexistence with them” He added that it is when the new helmsmen have secured their environment that they can go on to their subsequent responsibility to improve the quality of primary healthcare, primary education, local sanitation and work on some roads that they can do within the limit of the resources that will be available to them to work with. “Let me say that you are inheriting a great legacy because as at the end of last year, some of the reports that we got, studies conducted around our state is that close to over 50 percent of our residents are now saying that they prefer to have their children in government run and managed primary schools.
