The Lakers are rumored to try and move Pau Gasol. Now if they do move Pau they are completely done for the season, because that would eliminate any little front court presence they have. However, they could be looking past the Kobe era (finally) and get some young talent that could keep LA competitive. Rumor has it that theyre going for a young PG. So heres a possibility. Lakers get: Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Thornton Kings get: Pau Gasol, Jordan Hill Why it works for the Kings: Demarcus Cousins has superstar potential, he just needs to behave. The Kings starting 5 looks pretty solid, except for the weakness they have at the 4. Pau would fill that void nicely, with Hill providing some depth as a fill-in starter when Pau has to rest those old knees. With Greivis Vasquez projected to start at the 1 and McLemore at the 2, Thomas might be the odd man out. The Kings would still have Fredette, Toney Douglas, and John Salmons as back up guards. Why it works for the Lakers: The Lakers simply need everything. Kobe is past his prime and his career is winding down, so its time to start looking past his era. Marcus Thornton will never be on Kobes level, but hes solid and he can be a good backup to him instead of the head case that is Wesley Johnson. As for Isaiah Thomas, hes a young athletic PG who would be an upgrade over a Steve Nash in his twilight years. As for the front court situation, they can look to that talented draft next year (probably a top 15 pick) for a possible starter This is all hypothetical. Just food for thought. -RT
