The Last Nine Yards is a short story of an Indian peasant being - TopicsExpress

The Last Nine Yards is a short story of an Indian peasant being awarded the capital punishment ( to be hung by the neck till death or rigor mortis gets hold, which ever is earlier). I have tried to portray the mental state of men awaiting death in their six by eight cell devoid of any sympathy, guilty or not. Death sentences do not justify means to an end. India is one country where the capital punishment is still resorted to,at times, on the whims of the high and mighty as was the case of Afjal Guru and Dhananjay. Our endeavour,as civilised people,is to bear upon respective government to abolish this act of murder by the State.
