The Law of the Land When asked about Obamacare, Democrats confidently stated that, its the law of the land, passed by Congress, signed by the president and upheld by the Supreme Court. Pretty powerful stuff, huh? Yes, when Republicans wanted to delay implementation, they were lectured on justice, morality and upholding the law. But now President Obama would like to change the law and this time its somehow different. The President would like to ignore the other two branches of government and change the rules according to his own popularity polls. Ruling by dictate is for dictators and doesnt work well in a representative democracy. To do anything else would cause chaos. Suppose that the next Republican President unilaterally decides he doesnt like the Capital Gains Tax and for the rest of his presidency, the Treasury will not be collecting Capital Gains taxes. Would that be legal? Of course not! Would it cause the chaos Im describing? Absolutely. Obama and his Administration are in serious, serious trouble. While desperate times, call for desperate measures, this act of desperation isnt going to work. Sadly, the downward spiral predicted by me and every Republican has already begun. Lets hope that cooler heads prevail and that the Republicans step in to fix this debacle.
