The Leap Elephant of the Day is...BUFFY! Were are HUGELY EXCITED to be working with the awesome Elephant Valley Project in Cambodia and SO proud of our first team of Leapers who have spent the last 2 weeks working as Elephant Mahouts. Buffet (also known as Buffy) was the first elephant that came to the Elephant Valley Project back in 2007, Buffet was used for hunting and logging for many years and must have encountered much hard work. She has taken her new found retirement like a duck to water and is famous for teaching the others how to trumpet. She is also, interestingly enough, the only elephant that we do not have to sometimes chain up at night as she likes to stay within the boundaries of the sanctuary. She loves to ‘trunk-wrestle’ with Easy Rider to establish their place in the herd hierarchy. You can tell Buffet apart from the other elephants by the hole in her left ear.
