The Least Productive Day of the Week Is... Monday. Why? Our weekends are not restful and restorative and that causes us to feel stressed and anxious on Saturday and Sunday about the start of the new workweek. Specifically, 48 percent feel unproductive on Monday, while more than half spent the weekend worrying about work, according to a survey conducted by Westin Hotels & Resorts. The stress of going back to work on Monday morning can cause a very specific and potentially damaging health reaction. Find out what it is! Blame it on technology. Laptop computers, smartphones and tablets allow us to stay connected to the office day and night, which has impacted our personal lives. Here are some startling findings from the survey: 36 percent of workers say they feel tired on Monday. 52 percent believe their health and well-being are negatively impacted by work due to lack of exercise, sleep and relaxation. 50 percent say they spend up to three hours working on the weekend, including answering emails and telephone calls. 62 percent say their personal life has been negatively affected by work. 45 percent say work has had a negative impact on family relationships. 28 percent say they have been in the middle of a romantically special moment with a partner when work interfered and ruined the moment. So what can you do to strengthen your work-life balance? WebMD has five tips: 1. Build downtime into your schedule. 2. Drop activities that sap your time or energy. 3. Rethink how to do your household errands and chores. Ideas: Order groceries online or hire the kid next door to mow the lawn. 4. Get moving!
