The Lebombo Bone, found in southern Africa dates back to about 35,000 B.C. Its primary use seems to be as a calendar. A similar item, the Ishango Bone was found in central east Africa and has been dated at about 25,000 B.C. or earlier. It appears to have been used as a lunar calendar, as well as a tool for multiplication, division and other mathematical functions. Interestingly, the location of the Ishango bone is near Lake Victoria, the source of the Nile River. many believe these people followed the Nile to eventually establish the Nubian Empire (Kush, Ta-Seti) in present day Sudan and South Sudan and from there Kemet (Ancient Egypt). By comparison, Pythagoras, the Greek mathematician, lived only 2500 years ago, around 500 B.C. https://youtube/watch?v=VX90lN8VSME
