The Lego Movie (2013) Plot: Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, Will Arnett and Morgan Freeman lend their voices to this CGI-animated comedy based on the line of toys made by Lego. The wicked Lord Business (Will Ferrell) is determined to destroy the Lego universe and rebuild it using glue - which goes against the very nature of Lego. Mistaken as the Special, the only surviving Master Builder, the rather ordinary Emmet (Pratt) is selected to lead a group of figures on a mission to put a stop to Lord Businesss evil plan. Emmet is helped by wise wizard Vitruvius (Freeman), tough girl Wyldstyle (Banks) and DC superhero Batman (Arnett), but can he find something extraordinary within himself in order to save the world? The film also features the voices of Channing Tatum, Liam Neeson, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Jonah Hill. Review: For some unknown reason, I really enjoyed this funny movie. It really does have something for everyone and although the storyline is completely ridiculous, it really did make me laugh. There is a great mixture of characters and the references to other movies were well written. I was shocked to see the cast list and I was amazed that Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman agreed to do this movie because its completely out of there character. The originality of the film was refreshing and the directors done well by making all the Lego characters actually look the Lego. The annoying Awesome song made me laugh and Batman was a great addition to the many different characters. In all, I was surprised with the outcome, after hearing all of the hype behind the movie, and judging by the money that it took at the box office, Im not the only one that thought that this was a great watch. Enjoyable! Round-Up: Liam Neeson and Morgan Freeman have to have the two most striking voices in cinema. I couldnt really tell who Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum was but it was good to see that the director used the real Billy Dee William and Shaquille ONeal. Will Ferrell was great in person and his voice as Lord Business really did work. Dont get me wrong, the movie is extremely far fetched and the concept was crazy, but that is what makes the movie work. They have already planned a sequel, which isnt surprising after that gross, and as soon as I saw this movie, I put the Batman Lego movie straight on my rental list. I honestly think that you will see something new every time that you watch this film because there is so much going on and the pace is quite fast. I havent been that impressed with a lot of animated movies that have come out recently but after watching this film, my faith has truly been restored. Budget: $60million Worldwide Gross: $468million (WOW!) I recommend this movie to people who are into there heroic animated movies about a everyday construction worker who has been told that he has a gift to save the world. 7/10
