The Lemba History We will be looking at the Lemba History and explore all aspect of this story, looking at details that don’t seem to make sense and those that do, by looking at scientific and geographical proof. At the end you make up your own mind. This is the Story that Lemba children are told even before they could comprehend as it makes part of who we are. Those part of the story I left out I believe that my fellow Lembas will fill the gaps The beginning Over 2500 years ago a group of Jews left Judea and settled in Senna modern day Yemen. The tribe was led by the house of Buba. The move was to facilitate trade as the story goes while in Senna going back was not an option because a powerful and vicious tribe had attacked their home. So when conditions for trading became unfavorable they couldnt go back the option was to move forward. This was very hard for them as they where leaving behind their families and loves ones who themselves where not sure if they had died or not. The First Move This is when the house of Hamisi took over leading the people across the big river into Africa they ended up in Ethiopia where some group chose to remain while other moved south moving along the East Coast this will be the group that end up in the south Africa Zimbabwe and Mozambique. This group moved down until they ended up in Kenya/ Tanzania. This is where the name Lemba and Mwenye became to emerge generations later they prospered and increased in Numbers.and some group decided to move south. The Third Move This where the house of Bakali took over this is the house I belong to, and they moved to settle in Mozambique generations later part of this group decided to move. The Fourth Move This when the house of Seremane took over and this group ended up in place called Chiramba presently known as Zimbabwe they built the Great Zimbabwe. By now they where known as Ba-Lemba. Later some tribes moved south where they ended up in South Africa in places like Louis Trichardt. Now let us look at the story closely: What is a Lemba Meaning by shavei.org/ca “The Lemba are an allegedly Jewish people in southern Africa, many living in modern day Zimbabwe, Malawi and South Africa. The community as a whole numbers close to 70,000 “ Why Allegedly? Meaning by: oxforddictionaries/ “Used to convey that something is claimed to be the case or have taken place, although there is no proof” Points to consider, DNA By: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemba_people The DNA issue: Even after the DNA was done to proof the origin of Lemba people, some researchers are coming up with suggestions why Lembas carry Jewish Genetic markers(CMH) while not considering that other black (Bantu) people who are not Lembas where tested but these Genetic Markers (CMH). becuase the whole intention is to prove that Lemba are not Jewish BUT you know what they say DNA dont lie DNA Markers only found in Males: it was never a secret that when our forefather embarked on this journey. they where no women. even our story explain that clearly which will explain why 50% of our chromosomes semetic ( we are all, 50% related to our Mother and 50% related to Fathers) like any other person. The Journey You can still find Lembas today in all these places our forefather claim they travel. you can wakeup tomorrow and visit these counties you will find us the proud as ever about who we are. The Name Lemba and Mwenye are swihili of origin language spoken in Tanzania by : 20000-names/ the issues of our names and last names being similar with some of these Lembas living in these countries. Oral History One cannot dispute beyond reasonable doubt that just because information has been past down generations to generations orally its not accurate. let me simplify this for some. 1.A child (boy) is born 2.Raised by his father or even grandfather 3.Taught the ways of his people by his father and elder (as it does take the whole village) to raise a child some most are familiar with this expression specially Africans 4. He becomes a man and get married 5. He has a son 6 The cycle begins Yes it is an undeniable fact that what is written hold more weight as proof, however it does not mean what not written doesint. Now you explain to me which information has been lost here, or might have been misrepresented. Things might have changed in time on how we do things however assuming that we are not being truthful because information was past down generations orally thats undermining as human beings. DNA or not can all these people in all these places and countries be wrong ? well i dont think so , Share you thoughts !! Thank you Please remember the rules of the group should you wish to debate.
