The Lesson So I am 22, living in New York and on my own for the first time, homesick and scared. I am blessed to get a job at Polo Ralph Lauren. Working there becomes comforting, priceless and a second home as I learn how to fold, how to place and learn about style and clothes in general. One day an amazing woman walks into our store meeting Mary Randolph Carter with visuals of a new line Country. She then proceeds to hand us a book, The Bridges of Madison County and asks us to read it over the weekend. It is at this point that I began to learn that it is not just a beautiful product, it is a lifestyle, a way to live. It becomes a new way to think about life, objects and how to live. Everything and every little detail has a meaning and a story. These were my most formidable days and I am grateful for each one of them. It changed my eyes and life. Of course later in true MRC fashion this book becomes a Best Seller and Movie. A standard porch becomes a comfortable old white painted wood porch with a door that slams shut, a boot bench to the left and a swing that blows in the wind. A driveway becomes a meandering old cobblestone and smooth graveled textured motor court. The list goes on... Looking forward to Flag Day to celebrate Carters new book. Thank you all for the messages as there is plenty of room at the Inn. Please join us for this special day Saturday, June 14th for a book signing and picnic. RSVP at Doug@reclaimedamerica.
