The Lessons of Odin During my first conversations with Odin, he - TopicsExpress

The Lessons of Odin During my first conversations with Odin, he pummeled the idea of being open minded into my head, saying that each path is its own and that no one can question another for their beliefs and the way they practice because each is different for every person. He made me change into someone who had more acceptance in magick, as he is..the master of all magick. In order to learn anything, you have to be willing to sacrifice your own beliefs to “master" anything. In order to understand, you must empty your cup and be willing to accept things that you may not agree with. However, just because you’re a master of something doesn’t mean that you know or have learned everything there is to know about a particular subject because there is always more yet to learn. So when you say that you are a master then you are just saying you have a lot of experience in a particular skill or subject. So says Odin. Of course for me, Odin is a lot like the headmaster of a school and the other gods and goddesses act as teachers to that “school". Although, each have their own mastery in a specific subject or skill more than others, but at the same time Odin has at least a little skill in almost any form of magick from what I can tell. The lessons Odin has to offer aren’t always easy to comprehend or do. Odin provides a magick which increases ones focus. He also is capable of helping you find specific tools or books for different types of practices or ways of doing things. Some of the books I have obtained had been recommended by him. Honestly, I feel a lot like he has taken me “under his cloak" sort to speak. He is a god of few but powerful words. In this respect, his power lays within his words or even in his thoughts. Odin was the one that started me on the path of Heathenry. He had called to me for a very long time and was one of the first statues that I ever bought. It was through his specialty in poetry and magick which drew me to him. At the same time, it was something more than that. The words he spoke to me were powerful and meaningful in more ways than one. He allowed me to see the change in myself and seize it and bring it up within me. He was the first that allowed me to see my choices in my words and what power they can possess if I express it in the right way. Words are not just about expression. Words can have a vibration which change the outcome of a situation. The biggest thing was overcoming myself. Odin taught me in order to accept others beliefs and practices, I have to first get passed my own ego, my own desires, my own thoughts and ideas. It isn’t just about me and if I want to talk to different kinds of people, then that means I must sacrifice my own beliefs a little bit in order to understand their beliefs. To say someone else’s beliefs are wrong is not only childish, but unrealistic, because everyone has different beliefs and practices which are specific to them. Even people in the same practice might have different beliefs on how things are or how things should be. It doesn’t mean they are wrong, it just means we’re all different and it was this realization which allows me to be more accepting. It is something you have to want for yourself if you truly wish to understand others and other ways of practice. There is no true way to practice or even believe, to deny this is to admit an ignorance of true reality of the world. Most of my practice with Odin requires reading, learning and absorbing ideas, ways of practice, knowledge, and wisdom from not just him and other deities, but from other people in my life and also from other authors; allowing myself to see the way of things and different ways of magickal practice and different ways of how to practice ones faith. This isn’t something that is always easy. When you read everyday and have trouble concentrating and keeping up with the practice, it can become very tiring and draining. Overall, the path that Odin provides for me is discipline of the mind. Conditioning the mind so that I may do other things with it which may concern magickal practices or religious practices. Some of these practices also seep into a mundane way of life too and allows you to handle more emotional or mental things in certain situations. This path isn’t for someone who is lazy about doing certain things and it takes a while to grasp the pace in order to attain a desired effect. Trance work especially can be difficult if you do not have this discipline of the mind in one way or another. Odin’s specialty isn’t just a straight path down the road of some kind of fantasy Mage. We’re in a time now where things are much more difficult to live by. Focus for my path is required if I want to achieve a certain level of trance in order to speak with the gods and goddesses and it was Odin who showed me this way. Each time we learn something we gain a little bit of strength. At the same time, we gain an understanding of things. This doesn’t mean we are all powerful, not even the gods are all powerful. What we can be is aware that each is different, that we can all achieve our own level of power, luck, advancement, etc. This does not however mean that we can cast on someone and it totally paralyze them. Odin has taught me not only how to expand my own ideas, but also offer a reality that energy is changing constantly, just as we are changing constantly. So for me, the sessions with him may be silent or he might speak of something with great insight. The biggest thing he can teach anyone is that learning; no matter who you are or where you’re from, there is always more to learn about everything. Even if you are very experienced, the knowledge you and I possess is not limited. We can learn much more, we just have to be willing to accept that learning something means sacrificing our own ideals to understand someone else’s. In conclusion; Odin offers an expansion of the mind. The ability to see passed ones own ambitions and look at the bigger picture. To remove ones own ignorance that you can learn everything there is within one life time; which is an illusion that hinders most people. Odin teaches that there are no superior humans; only that there are experiences to learn, that the young can teach the old and vice-versa. It is like walking up the steps of life, a never ending journey, even beyond death. So yes, Odin does teach the ways of magickal practice and poetry, but he also teaches you discipline of the mind. He teaches you how to go passed your own boundaries of expectation and challenge yourself with something new. He may force you to see the reality of things, the reality that all things are changing, that all things are different even if they are similar. For me; Odin is all about knowledge, insight, wisdom, never ending learning, understanding, and at the very most, sacrificing one’s self to achieve a greater part of yourself; to reach within yourself and pull something out which lays deeper which you may have not known about. Odin is a god of the mind, a being which has achieved a high status of experience and knowledge of the self. He may very well teach it to you, if you dare to journey within yourself. At the same time, Odin has great experience and as such, is skilled within many areas of life and magickal practice.
