The Lock the Gate Alliance has revealed the results of its survey of the Queensland State Election candidates policies on the environmental impact of mining, with minor parties and independents praised highly in comparison to the two major parties. The group asked the parties questions on peoples rights to object to mining, the protection of farmland and water and the need for clean politics. Lock the Gate President Drew Hutton said the results showed the LNP was out of touch with community sentiment on mining in rural and regional areas, while Labor still had a long way to go despite promising to reverse some of the LNPs worst policy excesses. The LNP didnt bother responding to this survey, which reveals the extraordinary contempt they have for community concerns on this issue.
