The "Long Tail" description described on page 263 in the conclusion sounds an awful lot like Netflix. Netflix is now doing "Netflix original series" which would drive more people to subscribe to and pay for Netflix to view these original shows. The logical next step would be paying for the next season of the show separately to view it or maybe even another web based media who specialize in this type of television series. The app would be free but you would only purchase the shows or series you wanted. XBOX video is very similar however it uses a model closer to Blockbuster than the Long Tail model. Interestingly this book and concepts were developed and written a decade ago.
