The Lord Jesus - our Role Model for life Luke 16:14 ‘Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things and they derided Him.’ Beloved one really awesome thing about the Lord was that He was always bold and courageous in speaking the truth. He never altered, tampered or modified His message to suit the audience especially the ‘whose who’ in society. Hence the high and mighty of the Jewish society hated the Lord Jesus. Even when He forgave the sin of people He was quick to mention ‘Sin nor more.’ Beloved if we are in ministry or teaching the word or sharing the word we too must be like the Lord and be bold to speak the truth always. In 2 Timothy 4:3-5 Paul tells Timothy as well as us ‘For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry.’ Yes beloved we see so much of this today. People love to hear messages that tickle their ears and hide the sin and they throng to these places where such sermons are preached. Sadly they do not realise that this is doing them eternal harm as they are slowly but surely being driven away from the Lord by these false teachers right into the hands of the devil. But you my dearly beloved friends must always preach the Word of God without any modification or compromise or dilution. It must be the truth and the whole truth of the gospel. What is this truth? 1 John 1:5 – 2:6 ‘This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. My little children, these things I write you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says I know Him and does not keep His commandments, is a liar and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself to walk just as He walked.’ This portion of scripture is pretty clear. We must obey all the commands of the Lord and make a decision to live a righteous life. Once we are born again that old life of sin must be kicked out and now you must live the new life in Christ. God bless you.
