The Lord Jesus Christ is the Word of God and He loves to preach - TopicsExpress

The Lord Jesus Christ is the Word of God and He loves to preach the Word of God. We see in the Gospel accounts that He was a great preacher and that He taught both in private and in public. The Gospels record some of His marvelous sermons which caused the people to be astonished at His wisdom (Mat. 13:54; Luke 4:22) and even the officers of the high priest to exclaim, “Never man spake like this man” (John 7:46). Of the Messiah, the Psalmist says “grace is poured into thy lips” (Psa. 45:2). Christ knows how to speak a word in season to him that is weary” (Isaiah 50:4). His preaching in the kingdom will excel that of all of the great anointed preachers of the present and past dispensations, including Enoch, Noah, David, Isaiah, Peter, John, James, and Paul. Christ will teach His devoted disciples in the kingdom as He did Mary, who sat at His feet so long ago and “heard his word” and was commended for having “chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:39-42). He will explain the Scriptures as He did to the disciples on the road to Emmaus, and the hearts of the saints will burn within them as they hear His wisdom, as did the the hearts of the amazed disciples on resurrection day (Luke 24:13-32). The late Baptist pastor I.M. Haldeman, himself a great preacher, observed: “He will teach this Old Book, the Bible. ... He will justify the cosmogony of Moses and verify the forecast of all the prophets. He will make His face to shine from the dullest page till the simplest lines shall be as a flood of effulgent and apocalyptic glory. He will take His listeners over the hallowed ground of His earthly life; to Bethlehem where He was born, to the place of the wayside inn wherein He lay the night the angels sang. He will take them to Olivet where His soul seemed to ooze from His body in the blood of agony; and He will show the place of His cross where He died and paid the ransom of a world. He will point out the true and holy sepulchre from which He arose true God and real, immortal man. The Word of the Lord shall go forth from Jerusalem” (Ten Sermons on the Second Coming, 1916, p. 190). Imagine hearing Jesus preach and teach! Imagine hearing Him preach and teach forever from His inexhaustible wisdom! Imagine hearing Him when there is no need to watch a clock! Imagine hearing Him when you live in a resurrection body that does not grow weary or become distracted, a body in which your mental faculties and spiritual senses are perfected!
