The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want... - Psalm - TopicsExpress

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want... - Psalm 23:1 Have you have thought about these words? I am sure you did! This is the most known Psalm in the world! I am always amazed at how such a small verse carries tremendous truth, and has the power to comfort and inspire generations of people in every single culture of Earth! Lets take a look at some of them: - The Lord The sheer fact that there is someone there, makes a world of difference for the soul struggling with the storms of life! There is a Lord, an overseer, one more powerful, more loving, more responsible! Someone who holds the last word, and sees us! - This someone is here described as a Shepherd! In that context, he is the one who protects from the lion, from the wolf, from the thief! And, he is also one who guides, cares, provides, heals, breaks, trains, and gives what the sheep need! A sheep without a shepherd is a sad story! - My Shepherd That means that we belong to his flock! Our lives are not up for grabs anymore! No one can come near us without having to deal with Him first! It also means that, to actually say: He is my shepherd we need to consciously become part of that flock. Ive heard of lonely wolves out there, but a lonely sheep is in much more danger! - I shall not be in want This is simply amazing! It carries at least two meanings: he will sustain me in every aspect of my life, materially, psychologically, spiritually, etc. But, also, at closer look at the Hebrew language in which it was written, it means: That is enough/ sufficient. Do you get it? When we are in this Shepherds flock, that is enough! We no longer depend on the market, the opinion of others, our appearance, our industry or hard work, health, or anything else to live and understand our value! Everything falls into their proper place: tools for living, not the meaning of life itself! This is health, sanity and encouragement to pursue different endeavors, knowing that we are not alone, and as we walk with Him, we will have what we need! May He bless you, and gently guide you! - Fr. Ebenezer Paz
