The Lord is my shepherd- God goes before me to lead and protect me. He provides for my needs. He knows me and goes after me if I get lost. He carries me when I am too weak. He protects me even with His life. I shall not want- God provides everything I need. He knows my needs even before I do. He knows the difference between my needs and wants. He makes me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside still waters.- God provides me with peace and rest. He is guiding me closer to Him and His kingdom. He restoreth my soul - God refreshes and restores me, bringing me back to my Foundation He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake - God is changing me into His image. I need only to allow Him to work in me. I don’t have to strive to be good because He promised to make the changes in me. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death - These trials are temporary. I am only passing through. The fear is only a shadow with no substance. What we see is fantasy, God’s word is reality. The terrors are only shadow puppets on the wall. No one or nothing can stop God’s plan. Death for a believer is just a passage to when our lives really begin. I will fear no evil - No weapon formed against me shall prosper. Greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world. God only allows what we can bear with His help. He is using the devil’s plans to accomplish His good plans for us. For Thou art with me - God goes before me as my Shepherd and Guide. He surrounds me as my Shield and Fortress. He is beneath me as my Rock and Foundation. God is above me as my Shelter from the sun and storm. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me - Just like earthly shepherds, God supports me and lets me lean on Him. He protects me, corrects me and guides me and I am comforted and safe. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies - I don’t have to fear the turmoil around me. God provides for me even in the midst of evil and trouble. It is God’s battle. I just need to rest and watch Him win. Thou anointest my head with oil - He anointed me with the Holy Spirit to set me apart for His service. I am sealed with the promise of the Holy Spirit proving that I am His child. The warm, fragrant oil runs down my head refreshing me, healing me, equiping me for what lies ahead and soothing me from what came before. My cup runneth over - He wants to bless me with good measure, pressed down and running over. He has for me plans abundantly above anything I can hope or dream. Everything God has is mine by adoption. I am a joint-heir with Christ because of His death and resurrection. The Power that brought Jesus up from the grave is at work in me now. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life - God’s blessings are chasing me trying to overtake me. Through God’s grace, may I slow down long enough so it can catch up. And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever - Never alone! I am the dwelling place of God on earth and, after this brief life, I will live in the fullness of God’s presence forever.
