The Lord looks for a peculiar treasure: For the LORD hath chosen - TopicsExpress

The Lord looks for a peculiar treasure: For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself and Israel for his peculiar treasure. Psa 135:4) Israel was the second name for Jacob and it was given to him by God after he wrestled with the angel at Peniel. Jacob was a scoundrel and I love reading about his life as there are so many lessons about seed, time, and harvest for us to learn. We know he stole his brother’s birthright and manipulated his dying father and had to run for his life. When he fell in love with a woman and wanted to marry her, his soon to be father-in –law swindled him by making him work seven years to get her. On the wedding day he married the oldest daughter Leah believing she was Rachelle, the daughter he loved. His father-in-law made him work seven more years to get Rachelle. Jacob cheated and he walked out being deceived in life. Fourteen years is the number for flesh and Spirit separation and Jacob harvested those deceitful things he planted. When he wrestled with the angel of the Lord; it was a struggle between his own will and the will of Father. God renamed him Israel, meaning “God prevails.” This has to be one of my favorite stories in the bible but the Psalmist says the Lord chose Jacob and elaborates that once he became Israel, he was the Lords peculiar treasure. God is looking for the treasure in his creation and there will be a time in our lives when we say “not my will but thy will.” The battle is the Lords and He will prevail! Our hearts can be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Col 2:2,3 Have a great day, Gayle
