The Lord taught me something profound in the past. I want to share it with you guys! PLEASE READ. In Jesus eyes, the immediate presence of sin in ones life is not His focus or primary issue; its actually the underlying attitudes that are in the persons heart. The actual sin that exists can be dealt with pretty quickly, or it can be left there and rot, but that mainly depends on the state of the persons heart, especially in regards to the sin thats there. The reason that Jesus thinks attitude is supremely important is because, if the attitude is correct (i.e., they hate sin, they are confident in Gods grace, they are determined and persist to get rid of the sin, and they love the Lord and His righteousness), the sin is guaranteed to be destroyed because the attitude guarantees it. The persons HEART is already AT the finish line, in faith. So its a matter only of time before victory actually physically occurs. And Jesus knows that. The deals sealed, so to speak. Heres a parable Jesus just opened to me ten minutes ago: There is this man who aims an 18th century cannon precisely at a large target in a huge field. The aiming takes time and steady hands, but the man eventually has it set. Now, all thats left to do is fire the cannonball and obliterate the target. Listen: the aiming is what determines victory or failure, and the release of the cannonball is simply the execution of either victory or failure. If the target is sin, then aiming the cannon properly equates to us fixing our attitude on following Jesus and rejecting sin. This initial attitude, which must be maintained, is our part to do. Then the actual firing of the cannonball is Gods grace and power itself that wipes out the sin. Gods grace gets ready to obliterate sin only as soon as we subject our hearts to it, so He can work as He pleases. In other words, He waits for us to arrange our attitudes correctly, and then He has freedom to move optimally. Likewise, the cannonball cannot be fired and wasted if the cannon is not aimed as it needs to be aimed. The firing waits on the aiming. Aiming is the hard part. It takes nothing to light the fuse and fire the cannonball; thats easy. We must aim very carefully at the intended target. Then God says, Watch Me shatter this target. Remember, Hes the one who actually moves on the sin and uses His own power to remove it from our lives. All He needs is a willing channel through which He can move.
