The Lorimer burst, discovered by a scientist 6 years ago while looking through half a decade old records has been discovered again! Scientists have no idea what causes them, but this proves that they are naturally occurring phenomena. Dan Thornton, the astrophysicist at the University of Manchester believes they are from a magnetar explosion event. "A magnetar can give off more energy in a millisecond than the sun in 300,000 years," These are rare explosions in incredibly dense parts of a supernova. The most interesting thing is that these bursts have traveled half the universes lifetime to reach us. Thornton says "we can use them to probe the material between us and the big bang."
