“The Lost Kingdoms Exhibition At The MET, and Some Art Historical Issues” Today (Tuesday, August 4) at 4:00pm at the National Museum of Cambodia, John Guy, Curator of South & Southeast Asian Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the MET) in New York City, will speak about the exhibit “Lost Kingdoms: Hindu-Buddhist Sculpture of Early Southeast Asia, 5th to 8th Century,” featuring loaned pieces from Cambodia and other countries. The lecture will address how first millennium Southeast Asia is interpreted and some art historical issues which signal the distinctive character of Southeast Asian religious imagery. River Book, co-publisher of the accompanying book, will have copies available in cooperation with Monument Books.
