The Lourdes Experiences in Singapore . The first event was held on the 8th December 2004 to celebrate the 150 th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Doctrine of the Immaculate Conception by Pope Pius IX in 1854. It was held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. 10,000 pilgrims from the Archdiocese and those from neighboring countries attended the half day event . The theme was Bring my people back to me This date was chosen because it is the date of the Papal Bull.,proclaiming this doctrine, that our Virgin Mother Mary was an unstained , and chaste virgin , made Holy by God to be the tabernacle of the Holy Spirit , and from her womb the spirit became flesh (Luke 1, 26-30); and in this incarnation God would be with us ( Emmanuel) . Prior to this time, God had appeared only to prophets in the old testament , but now He would be in person. Joseph her husband and our Blessed Mother Mary were commanded by God to call her son Jesus ( the anointed ) Christ ( the savior) for He will come to save his people from fear and all evil ( Matthew (1, 20-25). The virgin Mary consented and became the first disciple to obey God and went on to bear Jesus Christ and... also to give the Good News of her birth of our savior to Elizabeth her cousin ( Luke 1, 39-45) All events were organized by the Singapore Order of Malta. The Lourdes water was air shipped to Singapore. The event started with a video of the May Lourdes celebrations when the international Order of Malta was in Lourdes with the sick and the infirmed; the stations of the cross; the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament as it went round the stadium, the Eucharistic Mass; followed by the Rosary prayer said in the languages of Asia: English, Mandarin, Teochew, Cantonese, Tamil, Mayalanese, Tagalog, Bahasa, and Korean. Some extraordinary spiritual and physical healings took place . The second event was held on the 6th December 2008 on the 150th Anniversary of the Appearance of our Blessed Mother Mary . Theme: Come to me all of you who suffer The stadium design of the setting was to house the infirmed and sick in a rainy season and the tropical sun and to mimic as much of Lourdes. Where should our Lady be place ? It could not be on the stage and had to be visible to everyone. We placed her on a rotating turnstile ( the Rock of Massabielle). Our six foot high Our Lady , wearing her rosary and yellow roses on her foot rotated gently round slowly ..to see all her children...the church ..( converts and rest of humanity) ...and she was illuminated with subdued lighting...Yes she was beautiful...and she was already blessed by our Archbishop, His Grace Nicholas Chia at his house, before being brought to the Stadium Many miracles were reported with spiritual and physically healings both at the Parish and at the event. As the Blessed Sacrament went round the arena and the tiers of the Stadium, sounds of people being slain and falling occurred. During the interval , I together with our senior priest were called by our senior warden to attend to a woman who was fell and was very disturbed , and on seeing our priest she said Father, I am possessed. Her eyes roamed aimlessly as if out of focus . Gordon off by our wardens , Fr started special prayers to cast out the unhappy spirit over her together with the making of the sign of the cross on her body. As instructed by him ,we started the prayer of the rosary. She wriggled , and screamed out I do not like that prayer. It is like 1,000 knocks on my head , but we prayed on more fervently and after wriggling and fighting.. her demons ...she ,... became more subdued. But finally after about 20 minutes , she laid subdued like a lamb on the floor. Later she was able to join her group to pray the Rosary as the Rosary procession went round ...She was later taken home by her friend and did not need medical treatment and was followed up by her Parish priest for more prayers and counseling. It was a minor affliction . We made some inquiries about her background . She had practiced seances, played with tyrols card and seldom attended church . Our priest advised us If you play with the Devil ..you invite the Devil...and they are powerful...Only God and Jesus will heal against such spiritual attacks. I couldnt only agree more ...science and Man cannot fight against the spirit world but ...only by God , Jesus Christ and Mother Mary..... and the Word of God... We would be staging the third event on the 8th December 2014 . It would be the celebration of the 160th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Doctrine of the Immaculate Conception.
