The Lowdown on Last Night: Given the severity of the disruptions, we want to provide you with more details. The Plano outage was the issue that actually involved underground infrastructure. A piece of equipment failed and had to be replaced. Underground work is dangerous, time-consuming, and in hard to reach places. The Flower Mound Stone Hills Farm issue involved a 100 KVA transformer going bad. CoServ Crews responded, but upon inspection of the transformer and discovery of it needing to be replaced - they determined it required two different types of response crews. This occurred in an area where a backfeed wasn’t possible, unfortunately. At that point, the switchgear (called a PME-9) was discovered to have also been affected. A contract crew had to be called out to handle the replacement of that piece of equipment while our crew and an outside services group worked on the transformer. Thus, three crews were called to the scene - a complicated coordination to address multiple problems. All involved very large pieces of equipment that require heavy trucks, machinery and man power. Those resources require travel time and patience to perform the job functions safely. All that said, we humbly acknowledge that a 7-hour outage is a huge inconvenience and that your families were uncomfortable last night. We also respectfully mention that a lengthy outage is pretty rare for CoServ and hope that our explanation of the unusual circumstances might soften your perspectives. We also want to take the time to give thanks to the Operations/Dispatch Employees and the contractors who responded last night. You perform dangerous and hard to reach work and we appreciate you. Thank you, Members, for your patience and understanding.
