The MTA Board Members are catering their own special interest - TopicsExpress

The MTA Board Members are catering their own special interest groups of preference. Simply put the Board is refusing to entertain bids for underground tunnel on selected part of Crenshaw rail. Last year it was stated that if underground could be completed within budget it would be viable however, now that contractors have requested to be able to bid on tunnel they are denied opportunity to do so. Further one contractor indicates they can put tunnel in within budget. Just the after the Leimert Station approval it was stated by Board chairman that were a bid within budget actual they would surely consider. However, the Board refuses to take bids other than those specifically excluding the tunnel. Further it should be noted that the requested tunnel is really an a continuation of the tunnel from Exposition and would merely add a 11 block section that would promote safety to the community while allowing community business to continue, unlike the community business that died because of the disruption in the completion of the Expo Line. This construction on the Crenshaw Line if done in the manner that Metro is planning will cause many if not all of the Mom & Pop businesses to fail during the construction period. Seems to me this is Planned, part & parcel for Gentrification movement of the last business corridor of the Black community and that granting of the Leimert Station was in fact a ploy to divert the real intention of Killing our communities Economic Base and with it the greater surrounding community. Maybe we should be looking at the money trail and Board Members and I mean the secondary collateral nexus to the dollars. Yes, it is an old story repeated and seen all over American cities from Wash. DC to Chicago and now Los Angeles. There is a bigger plan for South LA it is about the land. Remember it is virtually flat all the way to the Ports, it has on the West LAX to the East only a few miles to the Orange County Financial District and to the North downtown Los Angeles which is currently being Gentrified in rapid fashion
