The MVCC hawks baseball team swept todays Region 3 doubleheader against Columbia Greene CC at Donovan Stadium. MVCC scored 5 runs in the first inning of game one which proved to be enough as the Hawks held on for a 5-2 win. Ben Barnes picked up the win on the mound while Stephen Scialdo earned his second save of the season. Brandon Thomas had two hits including a double and an rbi and JT Ross had two hits and an rbi. MVCC won game two by a final score of 9-3 behind another strong pitching performance. Josh Luczak went 4.2 innings before giving way to Christian King for the final 2.1 innings. The two combined to scatter 7 hits with Luczak getting the win. Brandon Pelose had two hits and two rbis, Jeff Ramos doubled and Rob Slivinski had a hit and two rbis for MVCC (8-6, 4-2). The hawks travel to Columbia greene on sunday for another doubleheader against the twins.
