The Magnificat The Magnificat is one of the ancient hymns of the church. Mary filled with the Holy Spirit gives thanks to God for all that He has done for her and for all generations. This is a true song of praise because it focuses on what God has done for us not what we do for Him. How little we can do for him but how great is his love for us. Praise be to God for his mercies are new every day and great is his faithfulness for us. Read these words and see all that God has done. He is our Savior, He remembers our low estate. His mercies extends to all generations. He has performed mighty deeds, just look at all of his miracles recorded in scripture and the great things He has done in your life and mine. He has scattered the proud. He brings down rulers but lifts up the humble. He feeds the hungry with good things and sends the rich away empty.His mercy extends to all generations. He is faithful to us and will never forsake us. In this season of Christmas let us focus on and meditate upon all that God has done for us. Joy to the World the Lord has come. Luke 1: 46 And Mary said: My soul glorifies the Lord 47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, 49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me-- holy is his name. 50 His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. 51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. 52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. 53 He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. 54 He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful 55 to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers. 56 Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.
