The Man Behind the Badge As many of you well know, my dad, - TopicsExpress

The Man Behind the Badge As many of you well know, my dad, Monty Giddens, is running for Sheriff of Clay County as the Republican candidate. There are many career achievements and credentials I could share with you all that more than qualify my father to be Clay County’s next Sheriff. Instead, I want you to get to know my dad as the amazing person that he is, rather than by his many names, such as Chief, Coach, or Drandaddy (just to name a few). I want you to know the man behind the badge- my father, role model, and best friend. My dad has always instilled great values in my sisters and me. The one I’m probably most grateful for is my work ethic. If you know Monty Giddens at all, you know the man never sits still! He runs a police department by day, professional lawn service in the afternoon, and an amazing home at night. I have cut grass side by side him and my (also AMAZING) mother, Nancy Giddens, since I was eight years old. I remember hating it with a passion when I was younger, especially when I had to work while my friends were being normal pre-teens and teenagers. Today, I am so appreciative of the work he made me do, as it became a driving force that continues to help me in every aspect of my life- especially school. Now, I look forward to the days I come home from college and get to cut grass with my parents like old times- a memory I will forever cherish and be grateful for. I always go to my dad whenever I need advice on life. He is full of wisdom and always helps me decide what is best for me, even though the decision we conclude with may not always be the one he desires. One of my favorite quotes from my dad is “do what you’re supposed to do”- a statement so simple, but yet, so powerful, that I can always remind myself of when determining if the decision I’m making is what he, my mom, and most importantly, God, would expect me to make. Still, to this day, every time I walk out of my front door, his last words to me are “I love you, and BEHAVE”. I would never want to leave my house without hearing those words. In a few short days, the casting of ballots will begin. I hope I have shone just a small light onto the side of my dad, Monty Giddens, that most people don’t see everyday. His career achievements prove he is qualified professionally to be Sheriff of Clay County. But on November 4th, let his good heart, integrity, honesty, and wisdom be the reasons you vote for my father, my role model, and my best friend, Monty Giddens for Sheriff of Clay County!
