The Management is tagged out this year...and he says he doesnt hunt. Im thinking DFG is missing something, at least where the hubs is concerned. He needs to pay registration AND get a hunting license with deer and pig tags. I got the call at 4:29...bring your pistol. He had hit a 3-400 pound pig and hit it so hard he was sure we....I was going to have to put it down. If I had thought for one second he was going to have me drop the hammer, I would have dressed for the occasion. Bean boots, a night gown and a flannel shirt are not what I would deem appropriate attire for that somber activity. Oh, and the skunk was here this morning too. I started out the door, my thumb on the snap of my holster and was a little slow on the uptake...fortunately. Barney the house cat came running up to me. No skunk, and no pig either. In the 10 minutes it took me to mount up, the pig came to its senses and hobbled away from the scene of the crash. MPPs pick up was not as fortunate. It sustained major injuries; the front bumper is into to tire. No bueno all the way around. I ferried he and the two muttletts de jour back to headquarters for a replacement rig. Then called DFG to give them a heads up on a possible injured and angry pig...a big one. There is work going on in the well field AND the campground is next door. Now that would make for an interesting nature hike. That would also give someone something to write home about. There are not many trees in that area....and Id hate to take my chances with a disgruntled pig with nothing but coyote brush and a stand of dry mustard as cover. ...and so another day begins up the creek. Have a great Friday and an even better weekend! DAP reporting from San Simeon Creek~
