The Marionette or Puppet, featured in 5 Nights at Freddys 2, is - TopicsExpress

The Marionette or Puppet, featured in 5 Nights at Freddys 2, is one of the most controversial animatronics present. This is for a multitude of reasons but lets begin with what we know, as always. The Marionette is found on Camera 11 and he is there for the entirety of the game. This animatronic is unique because he will only attack the player if a music box is not wound up, this creates a heightened sense of paranoia as the night guard must now, in addition to watching the vents and hallway, wind up the box via Camera 11 leaving him defenseless. He is the only animatronic next to Foxy that will attack the player regardless of whether or not the Freddy mask is equipped (yes the other animatronics can do this as well but if the mask is equipped quickly enough they will leave, Foxy and the puppet will still kill you). The Puppet is also present in both the mini-games and the cinematics. He is featured and playable in two of the four mini-games. In one of the Marionettes mini-games he can be seen giving gifts to four slumped, gray, figures in the different corners of the rooms. After the Marionette leaves the gifts, a second part of the mini-game ensues. Instead of the command Give Gifts you must now Give Life to the figures. As you approach each one you place a mask on top of their heads, can you guess what masks/head-wear he places on them? Thats right, he places a Bonnie, a Chica, a Foxy, and a Freddy mask on each of the figures. As the last mask is placed on whichever figure, Golden Freddy (sometimes varies per play through) then kills the player. As the mini-game is played a distorted voice is spelling out a series of letters that once deciphered spell Help Them. The second mini-game the player controls Freddy and has the option whether or not to follow the Puppet through one of the Fazbear Restaurants. If the player follows him throughout the restaurant the mini-game will end returning you to the main menu (more on these mini-games later as a LOT of interesting information can be found within them). Similar to the other game a message is given to the player via the distorted voice, this time it spells Save Them. As far as cinematics go he is only present in the last one as Night 4 is completed. He stares directly into, what is assumed to be Freddys eyes, and maintains eye contact as the animatronics head moves. After a few moments the screen is filled with static and the words Its me appears in the top left corner. This is all that we see of the Puppet directly from the game. This leaves many, many questions... Why does the Puppet only attack if the music box is left unwound? The Phone Guy states that the puppet always made him feel uneasy but more importantly that some of the animatronics - namely the Marionette - is attracted to noise, therefore keeping the music box wound will keep him there, if its not he may seek other sounds *cough your office/room cough cough*. Furthermore is the Marionette Good or Evil? As seen in the mini-games it would almost appear as if he is bringing the animatronics to life or trying to guide them to some sort of goal. A few of the other mini-games may shed some light on this goal but that shall be discussed on a later date. But did he even bring life to the animatronics? If so, how? What makes the Marionette so influential? What is his connection to the purple man? Did he, as opposed to bringing life, kill the children? Or perhaps he was one of the first murdered children that simply attached itself to the Marionette?
