The Market Development Facility (MDF) – supported by the Australian Government and implemented by Cardno Emerging Markets – invests in innovative businesses to stimulate economic growth in a number of countries across the Asia Pacific region. MDF is currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Accountant to support its operations in Timor-Leste. The Accountant will be part of the Timor-Leste Country Team, based in Dili. Responsibilities will include, amongst others, accounts payable duties and review/verification of invoices, administration of petty cash, payroll processing, data entry into the Quickbooks, ensuring compliance with taxation requirements and regular financial reporting. The full Terms of Reference for this position is available at marketdevelopmentfacility.org/current-opportunities/ Selection Criteria: · A Bachelor Degree, or its equivalent, in Accounting. · Experience in financial management of large projects, preferably for international development donors or organisations. · Ability to operate accounting software, such as Quickbooks. · Sound knowledge of Timor-Leste taxation laws. · Experience in the establishment of financial management and reporting systems for grant funds (desirable). · Experience in providing advice and financial capacity building of local partner organisations (desirable). · A high degree of personal initiative, lateral thinking, and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. · Ability to work with minimum supervision in a multi-cultural environment. · Excellent command of English, both verbal and written.
