The Market Theatre calls for the safe return of abducted Nigerian girls In solidarity with the Bring our Girls Back Campaign, an event which will be hosted by acclaimed Sibongile Khumalo is planned at The Market Theatre on Wednesday 21 May at 12h00. The event will start with a prayer and Sibongile Khumalo will deliver a speech as a mother and also as an artist. The gesture for the occasion is to indicate that The Market Theatre Foundation is part of the continent and we are all affected by what is happening in Africa, good or bad said James Ngcobo, artistic director of the Market. The Artistic Director further invites members of the media, all Arts communities, South Africans and Nigerian communities to be part of this event…we have a terrible xenophobic climate so this us again reaching out to those parents in Nigeria who are in pain not knowing what has happened to their daughters…. said Mr. Ngcobo About 230 schoolgirls were kidnapped from a school in Chibok in Nigerias north-eastern state of Borno on 14 April. Militant group Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the act.
