The Mask. There is a flaw that is apparent every now and then in some women. They seem to be so nice and friendly ; sometimes you feel inferior to them because of how they treat everybody around. And to your great shock, they end up being someone else completely different, and its hard to really understand all the pretence. Some people say many things just to please. They behave this or that way just to hide who they really are. But why? Why hide behind someone youre not? Isnt being yourself good enough for people? If not, then nobody is good enough for anyone because the last time I checked , were all still humans, liable to commit mistakes. How can we really know someone , if all they show is their good side and mask their real selves? How can anyone love someone who is not real? How can any friendship or relationship last this way? The truth of the matter is that pretending to be someone youre not is actually a hard task. You have to keep up with all the lies youve said and always changes the different masks-its a hard job. And when your real self is exposed , you have to think of excuses that wont make you look so bad and then theres the trust you lose with all the shame and humiliation. Nobody was ever successful in being someone they werent. They always show their true self sooner or later. Eventually everyone who lives this was is bound to be discovered and be known as a deceiver for the rest of their lives. People wont care about all the excuses they produce. All theyll care about is that they were lied to. And the deceiver will have made it harder for herself to be liked as a friend, wife ,or a loved one. So you see, being someone youre not is not easy at all! As long as you are yourself, people will love you for who you are with all your mistakes and flaw- and thats true love. Theyll never have unrealistic expectations from You because they know you. And you can live in peace with yourself, never having to spend your time with masks or foolish reasons why you couldnt do something. If youre exactly the person you are inside , you have a big chance of finding true love, true friendship, and most of all God-who by the way, knows you from inside out and will never accept masks and deceit. It doesnt make sense, does it? You know the person and the person tries to show you shes someone else-its just absurd. Thats exactly how God feels and this may be the reason why many religious people in the world never meet God personally. Christiane Cardoso..
