The McLaren M2B under construction for the 1966 Formula 1 season. Designed by Robin Herd the chassis was constructed of Mallite, the balsa wood/aluminum composite material utilized for the floors of Concorde. The big lump in the back is a Ford DOHC Indy engine. Teams struggled to find competitive 3.0 liter engines prior to the entry of the Ford-Cosworth. McLarens chose a destroked Ford Indy engine which was bulky and underpowered and didnt see the end of the season.
