The Medical Research Council has a great reputation when it comes to improving the health standards of people most especially the Gambia. Since its first research in the Gambia it has succeeded in drastically reducing the death rate due to malaria infection. That is just one of its intervention. So many other killer diseases like Tuberculosis has been reduced by MRC. However, MRC has increased the number of Gambians with PHD, Masters and BScs. Statistically point, the over 1000 MRC staffs comprise of over 800 Gambian citizens. This helps the nation in busting our GDP and GNP. I must personally confess. MRC is sponsoring me to undertake a degree in Biomedical Science which I tried finding sponsor for but could not. MRC came to the rescue. Without its existence, young and talented Gambians might suffer unless we have another institution which can help us like MRC did. That will be difficult. Please if u feel MRC should be here forever, let people hear your voice.
