The Memorial Service and celebration for my mother, Sheila Hill-Ponzo will be held at 3 pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at DeBaptiste Funeral Home located at 25 S Worthington Street, West Chester, PA 19382. Sheila Ann Hill-Ponzo was born on January 30, 1947 and was called home to be with The Lord on July 15, 2014. She was born in Philadelphia, PA, the middle of three sisters, and was the daughter of Reba Ash (MN) Lumb and William Lumb, both deceased. Sheila attended Philadelphia County Public Schools; receiving her high school diploma from Murrell Dobbins Technical High School. She lived in Philadelphia where she was dedicated to raising her two children and often made herself available to helping family and friends, especially during times of need. She later became a resident of Malvern, PA where she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior before moving to West Orange, NJ where she spent her final days. Sheila was effective at establishing trustworthy relationships within the workplace. While working in retail, non-profit organizations, and other employment sectors, she provided administrative support to leadership as well assisted with financial management. Her last employer was The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, where she worked for 15 years as a clerk and retired with manager status. Sheila loved bowling and was an active contributing member of the Model Bowling League for well over 35 years, winning many accolades and awards for the various teams she competed with. Through this hobby, she traveled throughout the United States and held offices such as treasurer and secretary for her local bowling league. Left to cherish Sheila’s memory are her children from her union with her 1st husband, John L. Hill, Sr.: Reba and John Jr., and her daughter-in-law, Darlene. Sheila is also survived by her grandchildren: Lauren, Genevieve, Giorgio, and Jason; great grandson Ayden; and a host of nieces, nephews, grand nieces/nephews, great grand nieces/nephews, and great great grand nieces/nephews. Sheila was predeceased by her late husband Devere Ponzo; who was the light of her life and instrumental in bringing her to faith in Jesus Christ. She is also predeceased by her older sister, Sandra, and her younger sister, Selina.
