The Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier assumes those who come to them for employment who currently receive disability desire to continue to keep that source of income so MHAST pays very low wages. That is not my case, when I seek out employment it is with the hope I can suspend the Disability income and live off paid wages as my current tax free income is at the brink, I would gladly give it up for taxable income as long as after taxes I have more income than I currently have. I do not seek employment as a disabled person I seek employment as a ablest bodied highly intelligent and skilled person. SSDI is not a lifestyle, it is a temporary solution to obtain a permanent position of employment.
