The Merimna Counseling Center and the “Friends of Merimna” (branch of Thessaloniki) participate in the program Thessaloniki-European Youth Culture 2014 with the action: “We enlighten the sky, we enlighten our lives”. The aim of this action is the sensitization of adolescents, parents and educators on the issue of loss (familiar way of living, security, aims, desires, dreams, parents unemployment, death of loved ones) highlighting the ways of support and the strength that is needed to deal with the difficult times. We started the action in February in a co-operation with the schools of our city. The students had the opportunity to explore and identify the strength that is needed in order to deal with any of the challenges in their life and also to create their own personal shield. This action will reach its peak with the final event in 31/05, where the personal shields of the students will be exhibited and there will also be a speech with the title: “Reinforcing the psychological endurance of children and adolescents”. In the end of the event each adolescent, parent or educator will have the opportunity to write a message, a wish to whoever or for whatever and after tying it to a balloon, he/she will let it fly high in the sky. In addition, with the help of the “Friends of Merimna” we will let small lanterns to the sky giving the symbolism that this way we enlighten our strength and after all our own life and not the sorrow that causes any kind of loss that we may experience. #thessaloniki2014 #integrate #culture
