The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Launches an Exciting New Model of Community Action Continuing its commitment to ensure that its 31,000 plus workforce better represents the diverse communities it serves, the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) has now launched the Community Ambassador Programme (CAP). Looking to dispel the myths and increase confidence about a career in the MPS, the programme is actively recruiting volunteers to act as advocates to improve the appeal of a career as a police officer. If you have a genuine passion for social change, diversity of thought, innovation and a commitment to helping the MPS to look and feel more like London then join us for the inaugural iCAN (I Can be a Community Ambassador) Discovery Evening entitled “The Real CSI” on Wednesday 21st January 2015, London between 6:00pm – 8:30pm at Empress State Building, London. This interactive and informative session promises to not only give you an insight into one of the most dynamic and challenging specialist areas in the MPS but also an opportunity to hear from serving BME and female Officers talking about their career and what it’s like to work for the MPS. And that’s not all. The iCAN Discovery Evening provides you with in-depth information on what it takes to become a Community Ambassador and the mentoring support and development package on offer. “If we are serious about increasing the number of women and BME officers in the MPS, we have to be part of the process of change” says Sonia Brown MBE, project lead. “The Community Ambassador Programme is looking for people with BIG IDEAS to help better engage, collaborate and advocate around recruitment issues within their local networks”.
