The Metservice have issued a severe weather watch: (strong northwest gales so tie down your trampolines and cats) Valid to 10:29am Tuesday 18 Nov 2014 SEVERE WEATHER WATCH FOR NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND, WAIKATO, COROMANDEL PENINSULA, WAITOMO, BAY OF PLENTY ROTORUA, TAUMARUNUI, TAUPO, TAIHAPE, ... ISSUED BY METSERVICE AT 1029hrs 17-Nov-2014 NORTHWEST GALES OVER THE NORTHERN HALF OF THE NORTH ISLAND TODAY ( MONDAY). A low is expected to pass southeastwards across the lower North Island this evening. Strong northwesterlies are expected to spread across the northern half of the North Island as this low nears and crosses the country. Strong to gale westerlies spread over the country behind this low early Tuesday, with another front expected to move on to the South Island during the day.
