The Middle East seems to be left behind the times, and found - TopicsExpress

The Middle East seems to be left behind the times, and found stagnated in the conflict. Compared to the countries of East Asia, once fallen to prey of corrupt autocrats and illegitimate military authorities, in spite of the existence of the anti-democratic forces in the region, the exit of the current chaos in the Middle East is not seen, rather, the doubt over whether the presence of the exit leading to dusky resolution does exist is raised. The liberalist international order which saved the once conflicted East Asia from the 19th imperialism to the cooperative international institution of the 21st century has been losing its impacts in the Middle East, despite the massive efforts of U.S Neo-corns and the new liberalists. The liberalist economic reforms driven by U.S liberalist coalition equipped with the so-called Washington Consensus was destined to fail for overcoming deeply rooted corruption chains, the inefficiency of authoritarian government-led economy system, and persistent suppression over civil society and democracy. The absence of the civil society resulted in the emergence of the Islamist movements, which has successfully replaced the role of the civil society in the region. The multilateralism which can create the cooperative regional institution had already deteriorated into the selfish oil-producing countries collectivism of GCC, the Pan-Arabism or the Arab nationalism had played a role of the ideology for strengthening the autocratic regimes of non-oil producers. The political alternative the depressed Arab grass roots chose was no less than the extreme Islamist movements whether a good choice or bad.
