The Midweek Sun American actor denied entry into Botswana without visa Posted by: APA Posted date : October 2, 2014 at 1:04 pm UTC 4 views In: politics Botswana immigration authorities announced Thursday that they have placed American film actor Rick Yune on the list of people who should apply for visas before entering the country.Also denied entry without a visa is Yune’s friend Jennifer Lindsay Bell. “Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with Regulation 5 of the Immigration (VISA) Regulations, the Minister of Labour and Home Affairs hereby declares that Yune and Bell are to obtain visas to enter Botswana,” the Office of the President said in a statement on Thursday. Yune was expected to be one of the guests at the election campaign launch by opposition coalition, Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) president Duma Boko that is set for Saturday. This effectively means that the American actor will be unable to attend the event as the process of securing a visa is long. American citizens are normally not required to apply for visas to enter Botswana. Recently South Africa’s opposition leader Julius Malema, who is also in the visa list, did not attend a UDC event.
