The Milford Board of Education approved Dr. Farrell’s recommendation to pilot a full-day kindergarten option at each elementary building in the 2015-2016 school year. Full-day kindergarten will be a tuition-based option accepting a maximum of 25 students per class at a cost of $3,000 a year, with full and partial scholarships for students on free and reduced lunch. Free half-day kindergarten will also continue to be offered. “We believe we need to start and see what the demand is for a full-day program. We know we have the room. This will allow more time to differentiate and more time with the rigorous curriculum. At-risk kids benefit substantially from a program like this,” Dr. Farrell said. More details about the full-day kindergarten program and registration for next year will be shared in January. To read more about what happened at last weeks Board meeting, click on the link below.
